‘Season is practically over’ Won Tae-in, right thumb discomfort → excluded from first team entry… “Focus on preparing for AG national team”

Samsung pitcher Won Tae-in was excluded from the first team lineup due to a minor injury to his right thumb. I am committed to participating in the Hangzhou Asian Games national team.

Samsung coach Park Jin-man reported Won Tae-in’s physical condition prior to the game against KT at Suwon KT Wiz Park on the 19th. Won Tae-in was excluded from the first team entry that day.

Won Tae-in took the mound as a starter against Daegu KT on the 14th and recorded his 7th win of the season with 6 hits (1 home run), 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, and 4 runs (3 earned runs) in 6 innings. However, while pitching that day, he complained of pain in his right thumb.메이저놀이터

Coach Park explained, “He says he continues to feel uncomfortable due to pain in his right thumb. He says he has no strength. He thinks he needs to warm up before going to the national team, so he doesn’t throw anymore. He was excluded from today’s entry.”

Originally, Won Tae-in planned to make his final appearance against Doosan on the 22nd and participate in national team convocation training on the 23rd. Coach Park said, “If he wants to pitch as a starter on the 22nd, his body should be almost ready by now. However, he said he still has some discomfort, so the starting pitch was cancelled. It’s a bit disappointing for the team because the starting lineup is in a difficult situation right now.”

He added, “As for joining the national team and throwing the ball, looking at the date, there is still time to be called up, so I don’t think it would be too difficult.”

When Won Tae-in returns from playing for the Asian Games national team, it appears that he will no longer have the opportunity to pitch in the regular season.

The Asian Games baseball finals and 3rd and 4th place matches will be held on October 7. The national team is scheduled to return home on the 8th. Samsung has two games scheduled for the 9th and 10th, and one game that was canceled due to rain and will be scheduled for a later date.

Won Tae-in appeared in 25 games this season and recorded 7 wins, 6 losses, and an ERA of 3.17. Although he failed to achieve 10 wins for three consecutive years, he pitched 145 innings and filled the required number of innings for three consecutive years.

A temporary starter will be selected for the game against Doosan on the 22nd when Won Tae-in is missing. Coach Park said, “It was decided that Won Tae-in could not throw today, so he has not decided who will throw. There is still time.”

Meanwhile, rookie Lee Ho-seong, who was selected in the first round (8th overall), is preparing to be selected for the first team at the end of September. Ho-Seong Lee pitched in 3 games (7 innings) last April and recorded an ERA of 2.57. Coach Park said, “We are continuing to increase the number of pitches in the second team. There will be an opportunity at the end of this month.”
